When it comes to paints amateurs often get lost in the brands and names. Most of us don’t even know the basics of painting our houses but we attempt to do it by ourselves anyway. However, you should leave this job to professionals. You can do this easily by using painting contractor software.
Following are the three most commonly used paint types that you can use for painting your house.
1. Water-Based Paints
Most of the people prefer water based paints for the walls as it dries down quickly and it is thinner as compared to oil based. The advantage of using water based paint is that cleaning it up is rather easy. It doesn’t turn yellow over time, it is also crack resistant. The perfect example of water based paint would be Latex Paint.
2. Oil-Based Paints
If you are into glossy finish then oil based paints should be your top choice. These are mostly used for painting furniture and doors because of its thick consistency. It is quite difficult to remove oil based paints and if you plan on repainting a surface that was previously painted using oil paint then you might have to scrape it off first because water paint won’t stick on it otherwise. It gives a smooth and hard finish. Enamel and acrylic paints are the perfect examples of oil based paints.
3. Specialty Paints
The special paints have features that protect your walls or surface from things such as mold, mildew, fire, water and condensation.
Before you start painting your walls, it is important that you know what needs to be done first. You need to start with a clean surface, clean out any harsh textures and apply a primer. What a primer basically does is that it allows the paint to stick to the surface and makes it last longer.
