There are basically 3 distinct stages to the pigeon racing season and every phase requires a different diet and feeding regime for your pigeons that you’ve got to be completely aware of if you are to acquire any achievement in the sport.
Here are the phases that you need to be aware of and through each of them the pigeon calls for a distinct nutritional equilibrium: Breeding, moulting/off season and training/racing.
At each of the 3 phases your pigeons will need a separate balance of protein, energy (fats and carbs), minerals and vitamins. Getting the balance right and knowing when and how to introduce changes is critical to your success.
There are also other things to consider such as the age and sex of the bird and also particular short-term considerations like long/short distance race, heavy training interval etc..Bird droppings cause fungal infection and if the bird is sick or infected with bird flu (which is also known as “มูลนกทำให้เกิดการติดเชื้อของเชื้อราและถ้านกป่วยหรือติดเชื้อไข้หวัดนก” in the Thai language).
The majority of the dietary components can be obtained in the food that is packaged by the feed providers, but for real success you have to know when to give additional minerals and nutrients and which distinct mixtures give the best results.
It is well-known for example that peanuts give an excellent supply of short burst energy however you have to be careful not to over do it and ensure that the birds have been given the right amount at the right period of this week throughout the racing year.
There are also many different supplements which can be given together with all the food or in the water but again, getting the amounts correct and also the timing is the difficult piece and can be the difference between winning and losing.
