Genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, are any plants or animals that contain genetic structures that have been manipulated by scientists. By using genetic engineering, scientists can show beneficial features in any organism, in terms of adding nutrients, better taste, or greater ability to fight pests or diseases and incorporate them into other organisms.

This is done by isolating certain genes responsible for traits in one organism, removing them, and then transferring them to other organisms, where this same gene replicates itself, creating stronger and tougher strains from the same organism.
