Most kosher salt is made from natural salt, which includes sodium chloride. Salt is one of the oldest and most common preservatives used in foods and has been used for thousands of years.

Many health experts advise people to limit their sodium intake to at least 2 grams per day. This is less than many people actually need.
It is very important to check the sodium level of your table salt every time you prepare or eat food. Salt levels can vary from brand to brand. Salt substitutes will not help reduce sodium if they do not have enough sodium.
