You think for a while and finally, dare to get the body tattoo you've always wanted. Now you have a lifelong memory of your body and how cool it was? But did you know that tattoos require thorough care because of their sensitivity?

Just as proper care can preserve a piece of art for years, there are some important steps you can take to ensure that your tattoo will look fresh for years and prevent it from falling apart. Whether this is your first tattoo or not, here are a few things to keep in mind to take care of your new ink!

On the second or third day, your tattoo will look a little duller than it looks now. You will also see some scabs, but don't worry, this will happen as your skin heals. All you have to do is wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day with mild soap and apply an alcohol-free moisturizer or non-petroleum jelly.

You need to continue the washing and moisturizing technique. Do not touch your tattoo with dirty hands and avoid irritation as much as possible. The redness is starting to fade and scales are starting to form, but don't look at it!

The healing process requires patience. There may still be small bumps left which will make the tattoo look dull and dry, but it will be fine especially after 15-20 days.

Once the outer layer heals, the chance of infection drops significantly. However, it may take several months for the undercoat to cure.
